Among the many exciting announcements at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon NA in Detroit last week, most notably, Kasten K10 V5.5, another one I’m particularly proud of isn’t a product or tool – it’s a website: KubeCampus.io, offered by Kasten by Veeam. Although it’s not technically a new site – it’s the next evolution of our existing Learning resource, Learning.kasten.io – the site’s rebranding is an important development for the cloud native community.

Since launching its predecessor last year, more than 10,000 cloud native developers have registered for the learning site to gain access to a wide array of information, resources and hands-on labs. Our site features a diverse group of instructors from around the world, and a variety of professionally vetted labs on Kubernetes storage, security, observability, and application consistency. Whether you’re new to Kubernetes or a seasoned cloud native developer, you can learn from expert instructors and participants in the vibrant Kubernetes community.

Visitors to the site take an average of 3.5 labs – totalling 9,500+ to date. What’s more, these learners have given us an average review score of 4.65 stars. Clearly, the site is satisfying a need amongst community members for high-quality training in cloud native development.

The Rebrand: What’s New?

Given the tremendous success of the site over the first year of its existence, Kasten by Veeam has invested heavily in its rebanding and expansion. Not only has the name changed, but KubeCampus.io now features a more streamlined learning structure and user experience.

You can access and download thousands of helpful resources such as white papers, videos, and webinars on a range of topics. You’ll also find opportunities to contribute, for example, by writing a blog post or giving a talk, and earn digital badges or get your name on our Wall of Fame – after all, why not earn some recognition for all your hard work? Importantly, you can interact directly with members of the broader Kubernetes community to exchange learnings and ideas, and get your questions answered directly from experienced Kubernetes developers.

But the best thing about the site is our hands-on labs, which take learners through the journey of installing a Kuberentes cluster to building an application, backing applications up in the most secure and safe way possible (with Kasten K10, of course), and fine-tuning storage environments to ensure reliable disaster recovery capabilities. In each of the labs, our experts walk you through these processes step-by-step, so that by the time you complete the lab, not only will you have earned a digital badge, you’ll be ready to implement the practices you learned in real-world scenarios.

With Knowledge Comes Innovation

Now that the pandemic is mostly behind us and people can attend events in person, a lot of interesting stories and experiences are being shared and information exchanged. Conversions are deeper and more technical now that community members are more educated in Kubernetes and cloud native concepts. As a result, the level of innovation in cloud native development is unprecedented, and it’s an exciting time for the Kubernetes community.

As these new innovations emerge, learning how to implement and benefit from them will be essential to establishing competitive advantage. That’s why Kasten by Veeam is committed to continuing to expand and enrich KubeCampus.io with additional labs and resources. We plan to increase engagement, and drive additional registrations from new and broader communities such as colleges, coding camps and corporate DevOps organizations, as well. At the same time, we’re working diligently to attract technology and content partners for co-produced labs and trainings, and provide additional opportunities for in-person training and certifications. The overarching goal is to provide a neutral, vendor-agnostic gathering place for anyone interested in building their Kuberenetes knowledge and cloud native development skill set.

With KubeCon + CloudNativeCon NA 2022 behind us, there’s plenty of time for learning! I invite you to check out the new and improved site, explore all of the available resources, and sign up for a lab of your choosing. You won’t regret it!
