Top 3 Highlights from KubeCon Barcelona!

We really enjoyed celebrating the 5th birthday of Kubernetes in Barcelona with 7,700 attendees! From this extremely busy event, here are our three takeaways that really stood out:

  1. Production Kubernetes usage is off the charts: The Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), driven by its flagship Kubernetes project, has matured with rich development and deployment tools and a robust ecosystem of 400+ members and 2.7M contributions. Various keynotes, surveys, and hallway conversations demonstrated that the number of production Kubernetes applications, large and small, have exploded.

  2. A year for stateful Kubernetes applications: As a consequence of greater production usage, 2019 is also the year where stateful Kubernetes applications are really taking off. Keynotes busted complexity myths while several speakers shared the advantages of and their experiences with moving application state within Kubernetes.

  3. Backup & Disaster Recovery becomes even more critical: The combination of the above two trends together with recent cloud outages has also highlighted the importance of protection from malicious and accidental loss of data and regulatory compliance. We consistently heard about this pain from a number of operations teams as they expand their hybrid and multi-cloud deployments.

Kasten shines in solving these data management and mobility challenges for hybrid cloud environments with an application-centric approach! You can learn more about how Kasten K10 For Kubernetes product seamlessly scales to provide this solution. Over the next few months, we look forward to following up on multiple conversations, keeping you in the loop on other significant product developments, and, of course, hearing from you.
